Creative Landscapes seeks organisation to create accessible guided tour PDF Print E-mail

The Paralympic Games legacy project Accentuate is running a project, named Creative Landscapes, led by English Heritage, which is exploring new approaches to increasing access to the historic environment. The project has invited participatory arts / environmental organisations or artists’ collectives to apply to its new Trail Blazing commission. The successful organisation will develop an approach to delivering an accessible guided tour and stand-alone trail that can be adapted to almost any historic environment.

Among other elements, the commission will involve:
devising a methodology for delivering a low-cost guided tour and temporary stand-alone trail which can be adapted for use by organisers of Heritage Open Days
offering a genuinely inclusive experience for users of the tour and trail
using a specific site in Gosport, Hampshire as an example and demonstration site
engaging local disabled people in the development and user testing of the tour and trail
presenting practical steps that organisers could take to deliver similar tours and trails at different sites

The fee for the project is £6,750, inclusive of tax, expenses, materials and transport, and the fee will be paid in 4 instalments. A site visit will take place on 11 July, and the deadline for applications is 18 July 2011.
