Have your say on subtitled cinema PDF Print E-mail

To ensure that subtitled cinema remains a priority for funding, the accessible cinema website resource yourlocalcinema.com is asking cinema goers to complete a survey from the UK Film Council. According to the website, in 2003 the UK Film Council provided grant schemes to help fund subtitle equipment and films. This year the Council faces a £25 million cut in its funding, much of which is being redirected to the 2012 Olympic Games, and funding for many film-related projects, including yourlocalcinema.com, has ceased.

The UK Film Council would like to hear your views on cinema access, to help plan possible future funding schemes. This is an opportunity to let them know how important subtitled cinema is. If you would like to comment you need to do so by 9 February 2010.

You can do this by completing their online survey. The survey should take around three minutes and contains ten tick-box questions. You will need to type your name at the beginning, then tick whichever box you like for the questions, apart from question 10: ‘Have we covered all the key areas?’ For this question you might like to click in the comment box and say how important subtitled cinema is to you, and that it must be continued.
