Plans and Building Control PDF Print E-mail

At the Building Control stage, detailed plans have to be submitted to the local authority (or to an Approved Inspector) to show that the building will comply with the Building Regulations. If your group is asked to look at a plan at this stage in the process, you will have to use Approved Document M (AD M) as the design standard for minimum requirements. However, you should also refer to best practice guidance such as BS 8300:2009 in terms of aspects that are not covered by AD M, such as wayfinding and the provision of certain fixtures and fittings.

If the plans you are asked to view do not contain the level of detail you require, ask whether accompanying material is available.
