It is extremely important to consider carefully how you communicate with your members and with external people, for the following two reasons:
1. to ensure that the access group’s activities involve anyone that wants to take part in them
2. to provide an inclusive service to external people and organisations, which sets an example for other service providers
Gaining an appreciation of the principles of accessible information will also enable your group to offer effective and comprehensive advice to service providers. By highlighting good practice in this area, you will help them understand how to meet their duties under the Disability Discrimination Act.
