Notes: We are an established access group, run by disabled people and working within the social model of disability and hold regular meetings of disabled people to raise access concerns. We campaign to improve access to buildings, the environment, transport, information and services. We offer a professional access, training and consultation service including access audits and surveys, access consultancy, access statements and contributions to design and access statements. We also provide training on best practice access standards, legislation, consulting with disabled people, Disability Equality Schemes and other disability equality issues. We have developed best practice standards, some in conjunction with Manchester City Council, including housing standards which are much better than Lifetime Homes, standards for schools and for baby changing areas and for adult and young people's changing areas (accessible toilet suites). Our publications also include Guidelines for Accessible Meetings and Events, co-written with the Disabled People's Network and "Better Access: Image and Reality". We are the link organisation for the Disabled People's Network in Manchester and actively participate in the Community Network for Manchester and as part of Greater Manchester's voluntary and community network. We also run projects. We would be very happy to talk with or meet up with other access groups to share information and issues.
